Also a chameleon is very relevant.🦎 We use Charlie Chameleon's scale to gauge how we are feeling, do some 'happy tapping' with Mia & Charlie & voila the scale changes in minutes to positive numbers, gently dissolving the stress, anxiety or fear 🌟🦎🐵🌟 https://t.co/Dcq8imyY4I

Fact: less than a third of teachers say their headteacher has shown leadership in tackling LGBT+ bullying. We can change this. Come to our launch on 2 June (tickets at https://t.co/KEwXgHbkiV) and let's be the role models we needed when we were at school.

Head Teacher's Welcome

HannahI am delighted to welcome you to the Aureus School, a brand new, state of the art comprehensive 11-16 school that opened on the Great Western Park, Didcot, in September 2017 with our first cohort of Year 7 students. I am excited to collaborate with local stakeholders to shape our offer as a STEAM specialist mixed school to create choice for the wider community in southern Oxfordshire.

Our mission is simple: we strive to educate the whole student so that each individual in our community may ‘Grow, Learn and Flourish’.

Our motto is to ‘Nurture Hearts and Minds’ which inspires our students, our staff, our parents and our community partners as we work together to serve the local community.

Our core values will underpin all of our decisions: Diversity, Equality, Wellbeing, Responsibility, Respect, Kindness, Love, Empathy, Courage, Confidence, Integrity and Resilience.

Our holistic approach at Aureus includes values-led leadership, values-based education and a wellbeing programme that will develop mindfulness strategies.

Our vision for Aureus extends beyond the classroom and the curriculum, to the culture and ethos that will be at the heart of our school’s learning environment. Our commitment to you: Dedicated and passionate staff; Inclusive learning environment; Dynamic teaching and learning; Creative curriculum and resources; Outstanding leadership at all levels; Thriving students who are healthy and happy.

Our student wellbeing systems, our personal development offer and our extended learning activities will nurture each of our students so that all can thrive and become confident, articulate and aspirational global citizens: Growth Mindset, Philosophy for Children, Mindfulness and Gratitude Practices will develop the critical thinking, leadership skills and healthy habits necessary for a successful future.

As one of a family of schools in the successful GLF Schools, we have a wealth of experience and expertise to support the growth of the Aureus learning community, including the support of a successful and innovative Teaching School. We are excited to be opening Aureus Primary School in September as our sibling school on the Great Western Park.
