Our World Challenge in Cambodia
We are excited to share with you the incredible journey that our students embarked on during our World Challenge trip to Cambodia. It was a life-changing experience filled with adventure, cultural enrichment, and meaningful contributions to the local communities and wildlife.
Exploring Cambodia's Dark Past
Our journey began with a solemn but essential visit to the Killing Fields and S21 Prison in Phnom Penh. This sombre experience allowed our students to gain a deeper understanding of Cambodia's history, paying tribute to the victims of the Khmer Rouge regime. It was a poignant start to our journey, a stark reminder of the resilience of the Cambodian people.
Spreading Compassion at the Bear Sanctuary
From there, we transitioned to the Bear Sanctuary. Students had the chance to get up close and personal with rescued bears. They not only observed the bears but also had the opportunity to feed them and create enrichment. Our students left a positive impact on these bears while learning about wildlife conservation and animal welfare.
Bonding with Elephants and Building Community
The Elephant Sanctuary was a highlight of our trip, offering a unique chance to connect with these gentle giants. For three unforgettable days, our students tracked elephants through lush forests and participated in a communal effort to build a new kitchen for the sanctuary using bricks made of mud. It was a heartwarming experience, demonstrating the power of teamwork and the importance of preserving Cambodia's natural wonders.
Journeying through the Majestic Mountains
Our adventure continued as we embarked on a three-day trek through the stunning Cambodian mountains. Along the way, we stumbled upon Buddhist temples nestled amidst the breathtaking landscapes. We camped by a much-appreciated cold stream, forging unforgettable memories while appreciating the beauty of Mother Nature.
Angkor Wat at Sunrise: A Breathtaking Finale
As our journey neared its end, we saved one of the most awe-inspiring moments for last. Our students woke up at 4 am to witness the breathtaking sunrise at Angkor Wat. This UNESCO World Heritage site, with its intricate architecture and rich history, left everyone in awe. It was a fitting way to conclude our adventure, reminding us of the enduring beauty that can be found across the globe.
Relaxation at Its Finest
After days filled with adventure and cultural immersion, our students finally had a chance to relax by unwinding in the pool. It was a well-deserved respite that allowed our students to reflect on their experiences and the profound impact they had on the local communities and ecosystems.
Our World Challenge trip to Cambodia was an adventure of a lifetime. It was a journey of self-discovery, cultural enrichment, and making a positive impact on the world. Our students returned home with a newfound appreciation for Cambodia's history, wildlife, and people. We are immensely proud of their efforts, and we look forward to the positive change they will continue to bring to our world.
