Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families

As we move into the spring months, I’m pleased to share with you the events of this week.

Year 11 received their mock results during a special assembly this week, entitled “Back to the
Future”. This was to give the students the opportunity to see all their results in one place and
give them time to reflect on what they would change if they could go back in time. Mock exams
are a challenging necessity. They give students an opportunity to learn from their mistakes, and
to create a focussed revision plan. The assembly was well received and the students are geared
up for the last 38 school days before the first GCSE examination.

It was wonderful to see so many parents at our Year 11’s last ever Progress Evening at Aureus
School. Teachers shared important final preparations students can take in the lead up to
examinations. We know that families and schools working together has a significant impact on a
student's progress, so we were thrilled that this event was so well-attended.

I had the pleasure of celebrating the students who participated in the Intermediate Maths
Challenge recently. Several Year 10 and 11 students took part in this national competition and
we are proud of all of their efforts. A special congratulations goes to the seven students who
achieved a bronze award, four students who achieved a silver award, and one student who
achieved a gold award! This is a challenging competition and they all did exceptionally to reach
this standard.

Thank you to everyone who voted for our new school values. It is always very difficult to choose
from a list of suggestions which are all relevant to everyday life, but we know reducing our
values to 3 will be beneficial when we are making policy and decisions for the school and
reiterating the key important values to our students. I’m pleased to announce the values we
have chosen are Ambition, Resilience and Respect. In the coming weeks I will be working with
students on slogans to encompass what we mean by each one of these words, and be ready to
start threading these through everything we do.

Miss Church collected our Ox ready to decorate for the Sobell House OxTrail event 2024. Thank
you to everyone who has donated so far for this fantastic charity. We are looking forward to
hearing the students' ideas on how to decorate it ready for the event.

We are excited to be welcoming our rising Year 7s, with record places in the school filled. We
cannot wait to meet the new families and integrate them into life at Aureus. We are very
grateful to all the families who champion the work we are doing to rapidly improve the school.

Kind Regards

Kirsty Rogers
