Our Week with Justice In Motion
It is without exaggeration that the collaboration, over four days, between Aureus school and Justice in Motion has been momentous.
We have been educated through assemblies, participated in workshops led by the cast and had three private showing of the spectacular show: CODE.
Christy: "An eye opening performance that gives the world hope for the future."
This project has provided a collective shared experience for the whole school where creativity and excellence has been celebrated.
The themes of CODE are very serious. To combat knife crime, gang culture and county lines in our community we must fight with the weapons that will get to the heart of the matter. These problems are essentially a symptom of a void - maybe a feeling of separation, desperation, or alienation.
Yr7 student: "This has been the best day of my life!"
To fight these issues, we must use weapons not of war, but of connection, inspiration and aspiration.
Roseanna Yr10: "It was an absolutely amazing time. They put so many different workshops on led by the cast from Justice in Motion. The show has so many different stories, not just about County Lines but also about how it affects your loved ones. It really does open our eyes to how bad it can be. Recommend watching when it comes to Reading in October."
Sport can achieve this. Art, music, dance and of course theatre - all can achieve this - as we have had so powerfully demonstrated through the community performance and the project at our school and so this is why we must give special thanks to those who have made this event possible .
The Didcot Powerhouse funded the whole project and enabled it to be free for us all. We thank them for their generous investment in the weapons of connection, inspiration and aspiration. We thank them for their investment in our community.
