School Standards Board (SSB)
The Clerk to the School Standards Board can be contacted at KPrince1@glfschools.org
Our SSB meets once per half term and provides the local governance function for Aureus School which fits within the overall governance structure of GLF Schools. Further information about governance at GLF Schools can be found here.
The three core functions of governance are:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management, including well-being, of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
The SSB continues to have parent representatives and representatives from the local community, together with our Headteacher and representatives from the Trust’s central team. It remains important that our SSB comprises the right people with the right skills to make appropriate and informed decisions for the school, taking into account the views of students, staff, parents and the local community.

Chair
Local to School and keen to support my local community
Second time being a school Governor, previous school was a primary in Surrey, relocated 3 years ago, being involved in SSB was a way to get closer to my new community and understand the type of changes in secondary schools compared to when I was at school 30 odd years ago.
I am a professionally qualified senior HR practitioner with 20 years experience which brings complimentary skill sets to support the strategic element of SSB, used to reviewing policies for example and thinking about longer term impact of decisions on people, of in this case the students and teaching staff. Personal interest in secondary education with a teenage son and 3 teenage stepchildren, understanding focus areas help support at home. Keen interest in safeguarding.

With a diverse background and a deep commitment to supporting children’s growth, I am excited to contribute as a board member. I bring over 25 years of experience in technology, complemented by 12 years of service as a firefighter, where I honed skills in leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving. My journey includes overcoming personal academic challenges, having struggled in school myself, which fuels my passion to ensure that every child has the opportunity to excel and reach their full potential. Be the best they can be.
As a parent of two daughters—one who has just completed her university studies and another who has recently finished her GCSEs—I understand the pivotal role education plays in shaping a successful future. My goal as a School Standards Board member is to leverage my professional expertise and personal experiences to advocate for a supportive and enriching educational environment. I am dedicated to helping all students thrive, drawing from my own life lessons to inspire and support their journey toward success.
