Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families
This week, Aureus School embraced a colourful array of socks in support of Down Syndrome Awareness Day. Students and staff arrived at school wearing odd socks in support of this wonderful charity, selected by our students.
It’s been a busy term of fundraising, and I am pleased to share that Leigh, one of our Year 11 students, took the initiative to bake and sell delicious cakes in aid of cancer research. We are pleased to have been able to support her initiative, and the cakes were amazing!
On the note of cakes, our catering students were also baking in the kitchen today. The smell coming from the area was amazing, and I was pleased to get a chocolate cupcake hand delivered to me on duty. Well done to all students who made delicious baked goods today!
GCSE Dance recording day was a success. The students showed their dedication and resilience as they worked hour after hour ensuring their routines were perfected. A special note of appreciation goes out to the younger students who supported the day.
Our Performing Arts students also took to the stage this week, showcasing to families and staff their devised pieces, leaving staff and families in awe of their creativity. They have worked as a team for 2 years (and beyond) to create this, and it was lovely to see them show off their final piece.
We continued to live our value of Ambition this week, with Year 10 students visiting Careers Fest at the Kassam stadium. They were able to meet with a range of employers to help them explore their future aspirations, alongside some hands-on activities to engage their minds.
Finally, we were pleased to welcome Aureus Primary to the school site this week. The Year 5 classes came to work on a project using one of our art classrooms, and I look forward to seeing the final piece.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards
Kirsty Rogers
