Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families
I hope this message finds you well. As we settle back into the rhythm and routine of school life after the break, I am pleased to share with you the highlights of the week.
Firstly, I am delighted to report on the success of our recent Humanutopia event. Year 9 spent a day immersed in activities designed to foster resilience, compassion and leadership skills. It was inspiring to witness our students engaging with these concepts and supporting one another through open dialogue. By the end of the session students were able to open up about the challenges they face and better equipped to address the intricate dynamics of their peer groups. I am proud to see them taking steps to becoming empowered young leaders within our school community.
Building on this momentum, some of our Year 9 students will soon step into the role of “Heros” for our Year 7 cohort. They will share their experiences and insights, guiding their younger peers towards developing similar levels of resilience and self-belief. This initiative embodies one of our core values, and I have no doubt will have a lasting impact on our school culture.
In other news, we have officially entered exam season with the art GCSE taking place this week. I have been incredibly impressed by the dedication and hard work demonstrated by our students throughout the two day exam. Their focus and commitment over the extended exam hours are a testament to their determination to succeed.
Looking ahead for these students, we are excited to announce that prom tickets for Year 11 are now available. Additionally, we are organising a second hand prom outfit sale and kindly ask for any donations of dresses, suits, shoes or accessories. Your support in making this event accessible to all students is greatly appreciated.
On a final note, I am thrilled to share that we have secured 21 bids to the GLF Foundation Opportunity Fund. This means that 21 of our students will have the chance to participate in enriching activities they may not have otherwise had access to. Many have chosen to pursue the Duke of Edinburgh award, a programme we proudly offer here at Aureus School. I also want to take this opportunity to thank the GLF Foundation for supporting us in introducing a boxing PDT led by a specialist coach from South Moreton Boxing Club. The first session was a huge success, and I look forward to seeing our students thrive in this new endeavour.
As always, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child’s education.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind Regards
Kirsty Rogers
