Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families
As we get closer to the end of term, and a fantastic year, I am delighted to share with you the highlights of this week.
We ended last week with our Duke of Edinburgh Bronze students completing a challenging expedition. The rain did not lighten for the whole of their hike, but that did not dampen the students’ spirits. The determination and resilience they showed throughout was commendable. A huge thank you to the staff who supported the event, and for having a spare umbrella for my visit to the campground!
We have had a range of trips and visits this week, including a Spelling Bee competition with other GLF Schools. Our Year 7 students represented us brilliantly and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.
Students have been involved in a multitude of STEM activities across various year groups. There has been windmill building which included investigating ways to increase turbine speeds and harness wind energy more efficiently. STEM camp involved a range of interactive sessions in chemistry, computing, physics and biology, sparking their curiosity and deepening their understanding of these subjects.
This morning, our Year 10 Geography students set off on their field trip to Swanage. We hope they enjoy better weather down at the beach and have a productive and enjoyable time exploring the geography of the area.
Yesterday, we hosted our Open Event, where I took great pleasure in sharing with our community the transformative journey we have been on this academic year. I couldn’t be prouder of our achievements. Our progress is down to the dedication and hard work of our staff, students and parents. Thank you as always for your continued support.
Finally, a quick reminder of our school fete tomorrow, 11am - 2pm. There will be lots of free activities and entertainment for all ages, so please come along and bring your friends and family to join in the fun.
We look forward to seeing you there.
