Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
This week, I am excited to share with you that Mr Rayner has launched our new Eco Club at school. This is an opportunity for our students to make a difference to the world. With our newly fitted solar panels up and running, students in our Eco Club will be monitoring how much electricity we are generating against how much we are using and working to identify additional ways to reduce our carbon footprint. As part of this wonderful initiative we have signed up for “Cut Your Carbon” for the month of November. Students in Eco Club are eager to challenge our school community with six simple strategies to reduce our carbon footprint: No Power Hour, Drop the Heating, Ditch the Drive, Veggie Vibes, Shower Power, and Buy Nothing New. I am really looking forward to hearing more about their proposals and how we can continue to create a more sustainable school environment together.
I have also had the pleasure of judging the coaching board displays this week, and we’ll be announcing the winners in the upcoming assemblies. It is wonderful to see so many creative ideas from our students, showcasing our school values as well as maintaining high expectations of ourselves and others.
In addition to this, I have had the chance to read all the Year 7 book reviews, and I am thrilled to see how many students read their gifted books over the holidays. It’s been delightful to see them share their love of reading with their peers. A book voucher will be awarded to the winner in assembly this week, and we’ll be showcasing their fantastic work on social media and in The Golden Rule towards the end of term.
A further reminder of our Open Evening on Thursday 10th October. Students will be finishing school at 13.05, so please remind them to purchase lunch during breaktime should they need to. We are looking forward to welcoming prospective families and showcasing our wonderful school community.
Have a lovely weekend.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
