Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
It seems like the colder months are finally here and gate duty requires hats and scarves at this point! Please remind students to wear coats to and from school to keep them warm and dry for the school day. It is worth noting the school is open from 8am for students who would like to get out of the cold. Students can go to the library or breakfast club. Please be reminded students do not need to purchase breakfast to be able to attend.
Each term I set aside some time to meet with our Head Prefects to gain valuable insights to the school. They were full of enthusiasm regarding their mock examinations, learning in classrooms and their post 16 options. Many of our students have attended various sixth forms and colleges in recent weeks to evaluate their options, and I am so proud of the maturity they are showing through the process.
Our Friends of Aureus committee met this week to discuss fundraising ideas which will also bring together our community. It was lovely to see so many new faces and hear the brilliant ideas they have for supporting our school.
Our Crochet Club is up and running, and it’s heartwarming to see students learning a new skill while contributing to a worthy cause. They are creating blankets for premature babies at the John Radcliffe Hospital in partnership with SSNAP (Supporting sick newborn and their parents). SSNAP is one of our chosen charities for this year and I am pleased to see these creative ideas from the students.
Finally, of course, we were absolutely thrilled to share that Aureus School has been rated Good in all four inspection categories in our recent Ofsted inspection! This is a fantastic achievement, and we are so proud of the hard work and dedication of our students, staff, and the entire school community.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
