Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families
It has been a busy and rewarding week at school as our Year 11 students begin to receive feedback from their mock exams. We are incredibly proud of their maturity and growth mindset, as they reflect on their successes, identify areas for improvement, and focus on the process of continuous development. It’s been inspiring to see their determination to take actionable steps forward. We look forward to welcoming families next week to Progress Evening to support them even further.
On Wednesday, we embraced No Pens Day, and it was a resounding success. The students participated in a variety of workshops that focused on building their oracy skills and constructing persuasive arguments. The day culminated in the assembly hall, where we hosted several lively debates. One of my favorites was, "It is better to be popular than smart," with the opposing side delivering a powerful rebuttal: "If you are smart, you can understand the way the world works and build your resilience to maybe not being as popular." It’s always a joy to see students embodying and applying our school values in such meaningful ways.
Today, we were thrilled to welcome BBC Radio Oxford into the school to interview some of our students and myself about our recent Ofsted judgement. The students were absolutely fantastic, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their reflections on the school. They spoke passionately about how strongly they feel we value and listen to their opinions, which was positively affirming. The interview is expected to air tomorrow at 7:50am, and I encourage everyone to tune in and hear their perspectives.
Lastly, a reminder to purchase your tickets for High School Musical If last year’s performance is anything to go by, it’s sure to be an amazing show. The students and staff involved have been working incredibly hard, and we can’t wait to see it all come together.
Wishing you a restful weekend,
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
