Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families
What an incredible week it has been! We’ve had more open mornings, and it has been a pleasure to welcome prospective families to showcase everything that makes our school so special.
Our Hospitality and Catering students have been busy cooking up some wonderful mussels, kindly delivered to us by Offshore Shellfish. It’s been fantastic to see their skills in action and the delicious results they’ve produced, with a variety of mussel recipes including thai green curry, italian tomato and garlic and moules marinière.
Year 8 students participated in the IET Faraday Challenge this week, with Wallingford School and Didcot Girls’ School joining us for an exciting engineering competition. The challenge is designed to introduce students to engineering and provides an opportunity for them to research, design and make prototype solutions to real-world engineering problems. Every project was fantastic, and we are so proud of our students for embodying our core values of Ambition, Resilience and Respect throughout the event. Congratulations to Wallingford School for taking home the prize, and to our students from Malala for winning the Aureus house competition!
This term, we’ve added new clubs to our PDT offer, and it’s been wonderful to see so many students trying something new. If your child hasn’t signed up for a club yet, we encourage you to take a look at the options available in your My Child At School (MCAS) app.
Our Year 7 students have been getting creative by redecorating the tables as part of their graphics project, and the results so far are looking fantastic. I can’t wait to see the finished designs.
A huge thank you to all the families who have completed our transport survey to help us plan for the next academic year. If you haven’t had a chance yet, please take a moment to complete it by 31st January by clicking here. Your feedback is invaluable to us.
Thank you all for your continued support, and I look forward to another exciting week ahead.
Kind regards
Kirsty Rogers
