Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
It has been another rewarding week for the Aureus community. Our Year 11 revision sessions have been a great success, receiving positive feedback from the students. The students have shown a fantastic work ethic and have been approaching their exams with a positive attitude and leaving with confidence that they have given it their best. I’ve enjoyed being part of the buzz when they leave the exam hall and am proud they have demonstrated great stamina this week as they’ve progressed through many of the big ones.
Our new prefects have seamlessly transitioned into their roles, contributing to the supervision of social times and wearing their prefect ties with pride. I had the pleasure of having lunch with our newly appointed head prefects today. I am thrilled with their plans for the upcoming year, which include working to make even more valuable contributions to their local community.
Our Year 10 students played their first ever rugby tournament this week and performed exceptionally, demonstrating the true spirit of rugby displaying TREDS (Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship) throughout. I have been pleased to hear about the achievements of some of our younger students who play rugby outside of school as well.
Next week, we will bid farewell to Ms Murphy as she embarks on a new journey in a larger school. We extend our best wishes to her. Ms Saul will be overseeing Year 10 and 11 alongside the team of PWLs. Her experience and dedication will be invaluable.
We have been interviewing for a new Assistant Headteacher role this week. We had an outstanding field of candidates and I look forward to sharing the results of the selection process with you in the near future.
Our students continue to make a positive impact on their local community. Recently, they have taken the initiative to wash cars and windows, demonstrating their community spirit. Please save the date, Saturday 8th June, for a big car wash event at the Didcot fire station, where our students will be helping. The proceeds from this event will be split between the Fire Fighters Charity and the OxTrail charity, Sobell House. Your support at this event will be greatly appreciated, both by our students and the charities they are raising funds for.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend.
