Headteacher's Weekly Update
6th September 2024
Dear Families
It has been a rather wet return to school but the enthusiasm and energy of the first few days back have been an absolute joy. As I joined other staff members at the gate welcoming students back, receiving a “good morning” and a smile from our students was a delight for us all.
In particular, I would like to commend our new Year 7 students who have had an excellent first week at secondary school. Each time I ask how their day has been, more than one of them tells me “even better than yesterday”, and it seems yesterday was a high bar to begin with.
We began our week with a whole school assembly where I spoke to the students about the journey of last year and our plans to continue on our journey to excellence this year. I reiterated our school values of Ambition, Resilience and Respect, ensuring our students know what it takes to be an Aureus Ambassador.
Communication between school and families is vital, as we are all stakeholders in the students’ education. To that end I would like to highlight the following dates for your diaries, where you will have the opportunity to hear more about our plans for this year, and more importantly, to build a relationship with your child’s coach to enable us to have a strong partnership.
Tuesday 24th September: KS3 Information Evening (Y7, Y8 & Y9)
Wednesday 25th September: KS4 Information Evening (Y10 & Y11)
Thursday 17th October: Meet the Coach Evening (All Year Groups)
Thursday 24th October: Post-16 Information Evening (Y10 & 11)
Finally, we will continue this year to encourage a love of reading with our students, and I am pleased to say I have had some delightful book reviews from our Year 7 students already. I look forward to judging the reviews in the coming weeks. Please do remind your child to drop reviews to either my office or to Miss Hope in the library.
Kind regards
Kirsty Rogers
