Headteacher's Weekly Update
Dear Families,
We’ve had an incredibly meaningful and busy week here at school, filled with important moments of remembrance, reflection, celebration, and remarkable student achievements.
First, I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the students who joined me for the Remembrance Service in Didcot on Sunday. Your presence and respect for this solemn occasion were deeply appreciated. A special commendation goes to those students who attended as part of their cadet groups—your dedication and pride shone through, and you represented the school beautifully.
Following the Sunday service, we held an in-school Remembrance Day assembly on Monday. It was a touching service, where several students shared their personal experiences of being from military families. Hearing these stories was both moving and inspiring, offering us all a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by so many to secure the freedoms we enjoy today. You can read more about this moving assembly on our school website.
After this important day of remembrance, we were thrilled to welcome back the Class of 2024 for a celebration of their outstanding exam results. It was wonderful to see them again, reconnect, and hear about their journeys in post-16 education and careers. They are all doing exceptionally well, and we couldn’t be prouder of the individuals they’ve become.
Meanwhile, our current Year 11 students have been hard at work sitting their mock exams this week. We are incredibly proud of how they have conducted themselves through this period. They approached their studies and exams with maturity and dedication, and we look forward to seeing them continue to develop over the course of this year.
This week also brought an array of impressive performances, starting with the Year 11 GCSE Drama presentations. The students poured their creativity, humour, and planning into these performances, delivering truly memorable and entertaining pieces
. Additionally, we enjoyed more fantastic music performances on Thursday with our Music House Competition. Students performed in the assembly hall over lunch, showcasing courage and enthusiasm, and bringing much joy to everyone in attendance.
Thank you, as always, for your support in making these moments possible. It’s a privilege to witness our students excel both academically and in their wider pursuits, and we look forward to what the rest of this term will bring.
Kind regards,
Kirsty Rogers
