At Aureus School, we will remember them.

Aureus School held a poignant Remembrance Service today, bringing together students, staff, and community members to honour and remember those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces. This meaningful event highlighted the unique experiences of students and staff with close ties to the military and was attended by students across the school who joined in solemn reflection.

Remembrance Day 2024(1)

The service was led by Ms Saul alongside students of current and former service members, who courageously shared their personal experiences of growing up with parents in the military. They spoke of the challenges and sacrifices involved, from the extended periods of separation to the anxieties faced by families of deployed service members. Their stories offered a heartfelt look into the lives of military families and underscored the resilience of children and families who support those in uniform.

In attendance were also students from Aureus School who participate in cadet programs, proudly representing their commitment to service and solidarity with their peers from military families. Together, they served as a reminder of the next generation's dedication to honouring and supporting the Armed Forces.

Staff members at Aureus also shared their experiences of being spouses and family members of those in the military, describing both the pride and the challenges of having loved ones who serve. Through their words, students and staff alike gained insight into the strength and resilience required of military families, who endure separation and the uncertainty that comes with service.

In a special address, guest speaker Paul Watts spoke movingly on the importance of remembrance, urging all present to honour the sacrifices of past and present service members and their families. "Remembrance isn't just about looking back," Paul shared. "It's about holding a space in our hearts for those who serve and ensuring their stories live on in our memories and our lives."

Remembrance Day 2024(3)

The entire school community came together for a moment of silence, reflecting on the impact of military service and the importance of supporting one another through shared remembrance. Students, staff, and visitors alike left the service with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the bravery and resilience embodied by military families.

The Remembrance Service at Aureus School reflects the school’s commitment to honouring those who serve and supporting the children and families who share in that service. Through events like these, the school continues to foster a culture of respect, empathy, and gratitude.
