Aureus' Human Library
Aureus School welcomed a diverse range of professionals to take part in a unique Human Library event, designed to broaden the career aspirations of Year 8 students. The event, organised each year by Ms Carolyn Saul, brought together an array of industry experts, offering students the chance to 'read' living books and gain valuable insights into various career paths.
The Human Library featured representatives from professions including RAL Space, the Army, Engineering Management, Healthcare Communications, Financial Planning, Project Management, Architecture, Pathology and Lab Science, Paediatrics, Primary Care Transformation, Laboratory Technology (Bloods), Environmental Radiochemistry, Charities and Mental Health, Marine Applications Engineer and Politics, with a special appearance from a Liberal Democrat MP. Carolyn Saul who is responsible for personal development at the school says “we are so proud we can expose our students to so many different professions and thank all the “books” for giving up their time today.”
Olly Glover, who participated in the event, said: "I commend Aureus School for organising their Human Library day. There is very clear evidence that encouraging young people to think about careers early increases their employment opportunities later on. I thank Aureus School for the opportunity to participate."
Headteacher Kirsty Rogers commented: "We are incredibly proud to host the Human Library event, which forms a key part of our commitment to preparing students for their futures. Meeting professionals from such a diverse range of careers inspires our students and helps them understand the many opportunities that lie ahead.”
The Human Library event is one of many initiatives at Aureus School designed to support students in making informed decisions about their future pathways and developing the skills they need to succeed.
