Week commencing 7th October was Diversity week at Aureus School.
Students participated in a range of activities during lunchtime that focused on some of the nine protected characteristics, including disability, sex and gender, and race.
Our activity on Monday saw students and staff participating in an inspiring session about British Sign Language where they were able to have a basic conversation in BSL, having learnt the signs for basic greetings and signing their names.
Miss Costar ran a session on sex and gender on Tuesday and on Wednesday and Miss Costar, Ms Saul and Ms Hunt-Brough aided students with a community arts project, which will soon be on display!
Throughout the week, Mr Ali gave an assembly on the hidden disability, dyslexia and on Thursday, students came in dressed in rainbow colours for Rainbow Day! This was a great success, thank you to all those that took part in our events this week and for those that donated, the total is yet to be announced - keep your eyes peeled!
