EAL

English as an Additional Language is celebrated and valued here at Aureus School. If your child speaks another language at home before English then they are categorised as EAL.

Aureus School will provide baseline assessments where applicable to understand their level of proficiency and put in place relevant interventions to help acquire English as a good rate.

Our new arrivals will be taught additional lessons of English Language to include the four key skills of: reading, writing, listening and speaking as well as grammar, vocabulary and punctuation.

We will also encourage our students who speak an additional language to sit a GCSE in their home language.

Here are some websites with games and activities to help your child develop their English:

The British Council
The BBC World Service Learning English
English Club
Children’s University
