Dance Workshop with James Cousins

Our GCSE Dance students were delighted to have taken part in a dance theory workshop today, delivered by the very talented James Cousins via a live video call.

Students learnt all about the piece that forms a component of their written exam, so this gave them a fantastic opportunity to learn more directly from the creator himself. The movement and techniques learnt will also be applied to their own choreography needed for their GCSE course.

Feedback from students was extremely positive:

“The session was great - we received a deeper understanding of what the choreographer's intentions were for the dance.”

“I learned lots about the choreography process when James created the dance movements.”

Miss King, Teacher of Dance at Aureus, added “James offered an inspirational short session based on his professional choreography. This will help students to answer theoretical questions in their AQA examination and be more creative during the practical choreography tasks”

The workshop was led by James Cousins Company, a dance company with an excellent reputation within the dance industry and extensive experience of working within schools.
