Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families

It has been an incredible week, showcasing the full educational journey of Aureus students.

On Tuesday, we were thrilled to welcome our rising Year 7 students for their transition day. It was lovely to meet these eager young minds and learn a little bit more about them. They enjoyed experiencing the varied curriculum on offer in our purpose-built classrooms. Each subject they visited left a positive impression, and the students had fun exploring their new learning environment. We were also pleased to welcome their families in the evening, and thank them for their patience in the heat on the day. One of the many perks of a smaller secondary school is getting to know our families personally.

At the other end of the Aureus journey, this Thursday we welcomed our Year 11 students back for their leavers assembly. The event was full of laughter, joy, and happy memories. There were a few tears as they said goodbye to their teachers, who have played such a vital role in their lives. However, as they move on to their next steps, we know they are well prepared. In the evening, we celebrated with style at the prom, and I’m pleased to report that our students continued to display the school values as they celebrated throughout the evening.

This week, we were also lucky enough to spend time with a special furry visitor of the 3 legged variety! The wonderful Sydney, a Labradoodle, tripod, Therapy Dog. Sydney has such a calm and affectionate nature, which makes him the perfect dog for therapy. Our students loved their first session with him and look forward to the next few that we have booked.

On Friday, while the students had a day off, our staff travelled to a trust INSET day, where we joined forces with staff from the 41 other schools within GLF to take part in professional development which I know will help us continue to have a significant impact on the education of our young people.

Wishing you a lovely weekend,
