Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families,

I hope this email finds you well. This week has been filled with activities that highlight the vibrant community we are building together, and as I write this, I realise there was something on every day this week, which might be why many of us are heading into the weekend rather tired. Of course, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

On Monday, we welcomed a large group of prospective families for our open morning. The feedback about our student tour guides was fantastic. Their enthusiasm and pride in our school truly shone through, making positive impressions on our visitors. This was echoed during our small rising Year 7 transition visit this Thursday, where our students supported our new members of the Aureus community throughout their day.

I had the pleasure of watching a wonderful music performance, where some of our students stepped out of their comfort zones to perform to an audience of families, friends and peers. The ambition and joy displayed in the room was wonderful.

Wednesday was Thank a Teacher Day, and the students showed their respect for the staff who work extremely hard to give them a positive educational experience. Postcards were delivered throughout the day, thanking the teachers for all that they do. We even got treated to some home-baked goods, and many parents took the time to express their gratitude as well. Thank you so much!

As part of the day, we were able to celebrate two members of our team for their exceptional contributions to education. Mr Wilkinson was awarded the Pearson Unsung Hero award for his unwavering dedication to our school community and Miss King received the Silver Outstanding Teacher of the Year award in the secondary school category for her commitment to our students and our wider community. We are proud they both received national recognition for the work that they do as part of the Aureus family.

To end the week, our GCSE art exhibition showcased our students’ brilliant works. The creativity and effort they put in their pieces were admired by all who attended, and we are proud that many of them are going to continue their art studies next year.

Finally, we waved off Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Silver students for their 3 day expedition. Having met with them briefly before they headed off, I am pleased to say they all have a “team song” to keep their spirits high, and I cannot wait to hear about their trip on their return.

Wishing you a sunny weekend.
