Headteacher's Weekly Update

Dear Families

We have officially made it through the darkest 12 weeks of the year and it is delightful to see
the days growing longer and the sun rising as we embark on each new school day.
This week has been filled with remarkable achievements and moments of pride for our school
community.

Our House Singing Competition showcased the incredible courage of our students
as they stepped out of their comfort zones to deliver captivating solo performances. This was
built on the back of the fantastic group performances we witnessed last week. Congratulations
to all students who took part.

A group of our students had the opportunity to participate in the Civil Engineering Challenge at
Abingdon School this week. I am thrilled to report that their conduct and contributions were
highly praised by the organisers, who described them as “true ambassadors” of our school,
reflecting the character and values instilled in our students.

In addition to this we have received heartwarming feedback from a member of the public who
witnessed our students assisting an elderly lady off the bus. Acts of kindness like these
exemplify the compassionate spirit of our school community. This was reconfirmed by a recent
external visitor who was impressed by the students' conduct around the school and how polite
they were.

We have marked another important milestone in our Year 11 students journey as they gathered
for their final whole year group photo. It is a poignant moment in their Aureus journey as they
begin to plan their next steps. I am proud to announce that many of them have already secured
places in apprenticeships, sixth forms, drama schools and other exciting opportunities, including
some with full scholarships.

In sports this week, our Year 7s participated in their first football fixture, showcasing not only
their skills but also their exemplary sportsmanship and representation of our school values.
They drew in a nail biting match, but we know this will spur them on for their next game.

Looking ahead, we have some exciting events planned. National Apprenticeships Week is
approaching and we have a range of events planned for the students to educate and inspire
about future career pathways. This is a small part of our careers programme at Aureus, but
plays a significant role in helping students to understand what they can do after their time with
us.

On Friday 9th February, we will be hosting a non-uniform day to raise funds for Sobell House as
part of their upcoming art event. If we can raise enough money, students will have the
opportunity to decorate their very own Ox to be represented on the art trail, so please ensure
students bring in their £1 on the day.

Finally, I am pleased to announce we will be launching a Breakfast Club after half term. This is an
opportunity for students to come together in the morning before the start of the school day.

I am always immensely proud of the achievements of our students and grateful for the ongoing
support of our dedicated parents.
